Speaking that our main antagonists are the mainline Geth (Mainliners for slang. Orthodox Geth is appropriate as well), it's important to make up a more detailed backstory for the Geth. The Mainliners in the Rewrite are the Geth that where allied with Saren and Sovereign and worshiped the Reapers. Also, I assume that not every Geth is a Mainliner, so it's important to know how we got these other factions. I assume these Geth factions are neutral/mostly indifferent to the Mainliners or are against them someway (making them rebel Geth). The Geth are important to the current plot of the Rewrite, prompting me to write these things up and in different threads. Without further delay, let's get down to my ideas. Like always, I invite you to provide constructive criticism on my ideas. Feel free to poke holes in them, suggest things, refute things, etc.
Some of this information is pulled straight out of ME1.
Early Geth History: Creation to Geth/Quarian War and Immediate Aftermath of Said War
As we all know, the Geth where made by the Quarians more than 300 Earth years ago. The Quarians intended to use the the Geth as an automated labor force. The Quarians wanted the Geth to also do more complicated and varied tasks, but found it hard to do this with standard VIs without potentially crossing the Council's anti-AI laws. To skirt this, the Quarians made the Geth have networked intelligence, allowing them to be more intelligent when, you guessed it and you know it, when they where networked. Eventually, too many Geth where networked and they started having actual thoughts.
