Hello there. My name is King Feraligatr. You should probably of heard the name before. It's on the name of the forums for gosh's sake. I serve as the main admin as the forums, though you won't always know when I'm on due to my preference of hiding my online status. I created these forums as way to rehost my Rewrite without much fear of them taken down. It's also a way of discussing this project in general (hence the forum name). Originally I hosted the RP on TV Tropes, but due circumstances left best to PMs, I got basically long term to perma banned there. Not too long afterwards, me and my friend AnonNobody where able to inform my old players about the news. I eventually decided to create my own forums do my loss of being able to post TVT and so I would not have to worry about being banned or this project taken down easily. AnonNobody was able to inform all the old players to come here. I didn't get all them back here, but we got 2 out of the 4 (not including me) here, so obviously we succeeded somewhere. I hope this project goes somewhere and that I don't go mad with power, but as I don't like to make promises...... well no promises.
My experience with the Mass Effect trilogy has been a strained one. I first started the series when a friend recommended the game trilogy back in 2014. I had heard various opinions on it but knew barely anything about (though ofc I heard about the terribad endings). I bought the entire trilogy for about 10 bucks and played ME1 first. There's a reason ME1 is by far my overall favorite of the BW trilogy. That first playthrough of ME1 was excellent. It was an interesting space adventure in space with space buddies in space learning space lore fighting in space weapons against space people in space (I purposely do this when describing ME1 for some reason). The game was an immersive, intaking, epic, etc. experience that. It still is pretty cool to this day. Give me that first sight of the Presidium again please.
After ME1, I played ME2 afterwards. At the time, I thought it was fun and about as good as ME1. Then I played ME3 with the MEHEM mod (so I didn't see the terribad ending in my game in my first run or ever really ) and thought it was okay, but not as good as the others. Later on, I started looking up criticism of the ME series, found a lot of it to be true and make sense. My interest in the series started declining, but mostly with ME2 and 3. I kept playing regardless and getting new and awesome mods (thanks to the people at the ME3Explorer forums). Around sometime around or before February (according to my documents at least), I started ideas for the Rewrite (at the time, called New Mass Effect 2 and 3, or NME2 and 3). However, eventually all the criticism I read up made me snap (including with ME1, though not as bad for that game). I completed what I thought would be my last ME run for any ME game, and stopped almost anything ME related for around month. Alas, I could not keep it up and started back up with the series (and the Rewrite).
I still played the games, but never did another trilogy run. Barring ME1, the constant pressure of the criticism kept me from enjoying the series. I had come to pretty much completely agree with all the criticism I heard, especially with ME2 and 3. Fortunately, over time, my Rewrite provided me a dam solution to all these problems I heard. It arguably kept me sane with ME back then and to this day. I had talked about the Rewrite with some people in the past, but most yelled at me for it (it is a very controversial idea I admit. The Rewrite that is). I eventually decided to make a RP based on my Rewrite to help share it with others and to get more ideas from others (it helps I intended it to be collaborative almost from day one, whether someone agreed or not. I've adapted many ideas from others, including the criticisms). It took a while to set up and tired me out, but eventually I was able to to run the RP. We had a couple setbacks (college crunch, one player leaving, myself), but we where able to have a decent session, eve we didn't get our first meeting done IRP. Eventually I got banned from TVT, so I decided to shut the RP down for a while to get more ideas, get more RP and GM experience, take a break, etc. When I start it back I up in a long while from now, I plan on changing things from the previous run. Exactly what and how much I change will depend on feedback, ideas, personal preference, etc.
More about ME. I personally find it hard to play ME2 and 3 at all, though don't have much problem playing ME1. I'm so jaded with ME2 and 3 that I consider them some AU fanfic and the Rewrite is my canon. That's basically all I do with ME anymore, play ME1, look at ME3Explorer, and work on the Rewrite. Unfortunately I keep practically all the Rewrite ideas in my head as I am super lazy. Let's just say that the Rewrite has kept me sane with Mass Effect for a while. It feels nice to be able to do something about the excess stupidity ME2 and 3 brought, even if it's going a completely different route.
Last Mass Effect related paragraph before I move onto non ME related things. The things that really kept me with Mass Effect is the setting (ME1 only), lore (ME1 only again), some music (all BW games, but mostly ME1), and most importantly the characters (all games. Characterization arguably improved in later BW games, or at least ME2). I know ME1's setting and lore is supposed to be very generic compared to most sci fi, and that is probably true, but for some reason ME1 drew me in. I had not really played many games before that really sucked me in in that regard. As I said, the music is usually quite nice. Most of ME1's soundtrack is win. ME2's soundtrack is usually pretty decent, if not great or good at times (Suicide Mission track, while a dumb mission, is a excellent piece). ME3 is not as great in all soundtrack areas, but it has some good tracks. And last but not least, the main attraction - the characters. I know other franchises have objectively better written characters, but that don't makes as a long lasting impression on me like ME. This is about the only area I feel the series stayed relatively good with most the entire thing (ME3 had plenty of hiccups or chokes though. ME2 vs. ME3 Legion, anyone? Total character derailment, and of one of my favorite characters from BW's series. And this is only one character....). My top two characters, Team Dextro, stayed pretty good the entire series (Garrus was arguably his best in ME3 of all places. Tali was best in ME2) have made a lasting impression on me (so much that I am commandeering both them for my own use in the RP when goes back up). I barely hated any of the rest of the cast as well. And sometimes, while not Team Dextro tier, where still hugely awesome (Wrex the entire thing, ME2 Legion, Mordin most of the way, and Javik). In fact, I despise ME2 and 3's wanting to kill all your cast of characters, lending another point to ME1 (which didn't want to kill the entire cast). While I lose most of the characters I liked in the Rewrite, I still have Wrex, Tali, Garrus Brokarian, and potentially new characters to add to my list of favorites.
I of course do not play only Mass Effect. While my main hobby is video gaming by a long shot; other hobbies I have include: modding, making up plots and lore, reading shit on the Internet, and more. Games that have made a lasting impression one me include: Morrowind, Skyrim, Planetside 1 (V-V-H), Mass Effect 1, Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, Star Wars KotOR 1 and 2, Deus Ex 1, Pokemon (esp. GSC and HGSS), etc. Other games I like are the older Halos, Fallout New Vegas, and more. Games I have modded or mod for are: KotOR, Morrowind (only current one), New Vegas, Skyrim, Oblivion, Halo, and more. Currently, I am disgusted with the gaming industry as a whole. For a long while, gaming has overall been a deep rut. Most modern games tend not to impress me. So currently, I am very slowly playing games I hear are good from sources I consider trustworthy. This mostly includes older games, but sometimes I'll play a game from more recent times that I hear is good and that my shitty laptop can play. The results of this project are mixed, but I usually play entertaining games nonetheless. I tend not to play multiplayer games a lot due a variety reasons, not liking competition for one. The one exception to this was Planetside, which I'm taking a break from due to burnout.
Barring my gaming life (which is most of it due to narrow subject interests), I do have some other shit going on. I am currently going to college and have a job (but will not discuss them). I am also very lazy; very pessimistic; have depression; fancy myself an aromantic asexual; have low concentration and motivation; and atheist; a United States American; male; and more. Yes I am seeing people about my issues, but have no intention of talking about them here outside PM. I tend to be quite guarded (but less so on the Internet than RL) and don't really feel like giving out a lot of personal information. I call myself the Typo Master due me noticing I have a lot of typos in my posts before I do some spellcheck and proofreading. I am the King of Feraligatrs because Feraligatr has been my favorite Pokemon since forever, and as such, I lord over all Feraligatrs (and Totodiles and Croconaws as well) as their King.
Well that's me in a wall of text (get used to it at times). I hope we have a good time hare and that you people help me well with this Rewrite. Ask me any questions you may have.
